We are calling on our community to help us finish this mission. Your support provides: Safety: A supervised haven where every child is protected Belonging: A place where youth feel wanted and supported Future: Life skills and mentorship to guide our teens We are building this legacy for Leavenworth together. Please join us in creating the space where our youth belong.
Youth Statistics
Youth Demographics
Population (Leavenworth County): ~approx. 82,000
Youth under 18: about 23–25% of the population (~19,000–20,000 youth)
Single-parent households: roughly 30% of children live in single-parent homes
Why this matters: single-parent households statistically correlate with higher need for structured after-school programming and supervision.
After School Supervision
Across Kansas and the U.S.:
About 1 in 5 children are unsupervised between 3–6 PM
The hours between 3 PM – 6 PM are the peak time for juvenile crime and risky behavior.
Students involved in structured after-school programs are:
Less likely to engage in crime
More likely to graduate
More likely to avoid substance abuse
Kansas estimates show tens of thousands of children lack access to after-school programs.
Mental Health & Risk Factors
Nearly 1 in 3 high school students reports persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness.
Teen suicide remains one of the leading causes of death among Kansas youth
Increased risk factors include:
lack of community engagement
limited access to mentors
lack of safe places to gather
